Dow Jones VentureWire had a great story which was written by Ty McMahan which gave a great perspective of the life of a start up and the ensuing drama. The article also discusses the funding of a company we covered here called Earth Class Mail.
Ty reports, “While watching “Start-Up Junkies,” my weekly dose of VC in HD, I got an unexpected glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes when start-ups are staying mum publicly about their fundraising. The show, on high-definition cable channel MOJO, chronicles Seattle-based virtual post-office company Earth Class Mail Inc. as it searches for a new round of funding.”
The show was following the life and a day of Earth Class Mail and their attempts at getting funding. As many of you remember, “Startup.com” which was the brainchild of Kaleil Isaza Tuzman, went through a similar chronicle for his company govWorks.com (govWorkd imploded but the movie had a pretty good following).
If you have been reading our blog, you know that Earth Class Mail did indeed get funded $13.3 million from Ignition Partners, with participation from angel network Keiretsu Forum and we covered the transaction here.
While I dont get “Start-up Junkies” on my cable system, you can check out episodes online and see some pretty cool stories of companies seeking to get funded and the means they will go to.
